Not too bad at all

I bought this for my wife for our anniversary, so far she's seemed to like it. The book is full of examples of sexy scenes built from the ground up, from your sketch to a finished, coloured piece. Along the way there is some help and insight, and some interesting tidbits about Japanese Manga, in this case, the erotic kind of manga.
If you're looking for detailed instructions on drawing men or womens' 'tidbits', you're better off looking through an anatomy book, or google, there isn't really anything on *that* anatomy. Like the cover says, it's 'erotic manga' not something more explicit.

If you are a fan of the 'how to draw manga' books, then I recommend it. As a growing artist you may find lots of helpful hints, as an more experienced artist, you may just find some idea fodder for your next project.

While the graphics in the book are beautiful, there really isn't much instruction. If you use a computer to color your manga work it might be helpful, but not much.

Okay, but a heads up...

Okay, so this book is great if you want a fairly in-depth book on drawing mostly nude (Breasts only, mind you) females in some erotic poses. I'll also admit that it's well done for what it is, but there are only like 4 males in the entire book. It really, as far as 'Erotic" is concerned, is referring only to the poses and breasts of the females in the book, otherwise, it's pg.
This is intended as a sort of... know what your buying before you buy it, type of review. I personally found it relatively misleading by the title, something I'll admit I'm not used to with art books, as they tend to be quite straight forward in that respect. I would re-title it to "Provocative Manga: Draw Like the Experts" Not quite erotic, in the expected sense. Otherwise, it seems to be a fine book.

This is a great collection of stories. Too often the artistic talent in Africa is overloooked because of the turmoil in some parts of the land. This book is for anyone who wants a deeper understanding of the African people and their lives that one cannot get from headlines.

This book contains a good selection of stories written by esteemed African writers from various regions of Africa. The book is divided by these regions: East Africa, Northern Africa, West Africa, Southern Africa. Most of the stories are good little reads and offer insight into African culture. Overall a good book.

Thrown together but not explained well.

I was so excited when I found this book in the Sunnyvale public library. It covered a lot of subjects which would be interesting to any one in the field. But I was very dissappointed when I took the book home and tried to read it. The writer has just thrown things together without carefully explaining or organizing them. This book in no way qualifies as a text book or as any book you can learn from, unless you already know the subject quite well. Shame!

This book has a lot of technical information. But it has not been compiled properly. It is hard to understand if you are new to some of the concepts. Plus the book costs a lot. It cost $83.00 in 1995. You could learn as much from Tektronix and HP application notes that are available on the web or theough a 800 number.

entertaining and instructive

Dr. Alvin Granowsky has written a number of fairy tale-revisionist combination stories, and this pair is a fine example of what the genre has to offer. Both tales are illustrated with line drawings and each is well told, combining the best principles of language building, such as a better-than-average vocabulary and a mix of sentence lengths, without sacrificing an evocative and plausible narrative flow. The revisionist story is told by the stepmother, who contends that Snow White has resented her since her arriva; Snow White has convinced other people that her stepmother is trying to kill her.
These books are a wonderful mechanism for children who are just beginning to understand that other minds have other thoughts. The stories are well-told -- entertaining and instructive. Why lecture to your kids about morality when with a story they can begin to figure it out for themselves?

This was a delightful book. It was illustrated very well and gives a wonderful story that is funny and teaches a wonderful lesson. A must buy for any child or adult!
