Antonio De Maio is an Associate Professor at the University of Naples "Federico II". His research interest lies in the field of statistical signal processing, with emphasis on radar detection and convex optimization applied to radar signal processing. Fulvio Gini is Full Professor at the University of Pisa. His research interests include modeling and statistical analysis of radar clutter data, non-Gaussian signal detection and estimation, parameter estimation and data extraction from multichannel interferometric SAR data. Lee K. Patton is a senior research engineer at the Matrix Research & Engineering, Dayton (OH), where he conducts research in radar signal processing and waveform design.

If you design sophisticated radar systems, you need this book.

Every radar design book from Skolnik on down treats the design and analysis of radar waveforms. These days waveforms are everything, as radars have nearly exhausted to parameters of power and duty cycle in trying to achieve improvements in range, Doppler capability, resolution, and reduced false-alarm rate. So what is left to improve lies mainly in the realm of mathematics. It goes over the basics of various types of pulse coding, adds an information-theory approach, and treats multi-static and passive bi-static geometries. Then it takes an interesting tour through biological radar systems (which are surprisingly sophisticated), followed by a thorough treatment of auto radar sonar systems. Then back to sophisticated approaches to pulse compression, space-time diversity, waveform performance in target classification and tracking. Finally there is a discussion of signal-dependent clutter, and how to optimize the receiver for it. This British IET book is written by various authors, so the treatment is slightly uneven, but in general the level of treatment is high.

About the Author

Bertram J. Levine is the Charles Evans Hughes Fellow in Political Science (Emeritus) at Colgate University and a member of the Rutgers University Political Science Department. Prior to pursuing his PhD, he was Vice President of Federal Government Relations and State Government Relations for Johnson and Johnson. In that capacity, he headed the company's lobbying efforts in Washington, DC. During the 92nd and 93rd Congresses he served as a counsel to the Energy and Commerce Committee in the U.S. House of Representatives. Levine is the coauthor of Lobbying Congress: How the System Works, Second Edition. He has also authored a number of articles on interest groups and lobbying.

Perhaps the only, and probably the best and most thorough, book about women prime ministers and presidents since 1960 around the world. Torild Skard has a rich background in feminist issues, politics, UN organizations, and academia to support her research. This is a must-read for anyone interested in how women either follow the men who have led their countries, or branch out in different ways.

About the Author
Emmanuel Hadjiandreou is from South Africa but learned his craft in a German bakery. In the UK he has worked for chef Gordon Ramsay and Daylesford Organic, an award-winning organic farm shop in Oxfordshire. He currently teaches bread-making classes at The School Of Artisan Food in Nottinghamshire. His bread creations have won him several awards, such as the Soil Association Organic Food Award for his sourdough. This is his third book for RPS after 'How To Make Bread' and 'Making Bread Together'.

Excellent book!

My attempts at making sourdough in the past have been based on piecing together information I found on the internet. Those adventures began with me taking care of my slowly bubbling starter like a pet and then ending with flat, sad failures of loaves. The carefully curated how-to in this book finally made the stages of how to raise and use a starter click in my head, leaving me with the first real loaves of sourdough I’ve been able to make in all my dozens of tries. The guide is not all this book offers though, many recipes ranging from the luscious chocolate and peanut butter sourdough panettone to the wholesome and gluten free Teff and apricot sourdough. The photography is beautiful throughout the book, but most importantly, it is clear and easy to understand. The holy grail is a diagram showing photographs of how the starter is supposed to look day by day until it is ready to use and that picture, along with the clear directions that go along with it, is why I have finally been able to pull out chewy and flavorful sourdough baguettes from my oven. My kitchen has even been filled with the smells of rosemary and raisin sourdough baking in my oven. For anybody with even a passing interest in making true sourdough at home, I definitely recommend this book.

This is a Great book. I recommend it highly. I have been baking sourdough for years. This book has a lot of new recipes using different sourdough starters. This book is Great for people that are new to baking sourdough and to the seasoned sourdough baker.

This isn't for the new to sourdough. If it hadn't been for the bread group im in that helped me I would have been in big trouble. I've made breads for years and won blue ribbons at fairs this for me this is a a new world.
