Awesome set.....

I love this set by Living Language. The book is detailed & compact, but not so small it's not handy. There are useful conversations which are much longer than conversations on other CD's. Vocab words are repeated one by one in each chapter with room to repeat. Lots of sections with Dutch sentences, and then a review & test yourself at the end of each chapter. I love that only the Dutch is on the CD's, so I can listen over & over again, soak it into my brain. It's just very efficient. The last 3 CD's are the conversations with room to repeat after the speaker. If you want a set that's geared toward travelers, this isn't it. If you really want to learn Dutch, this is a great way to start! Lessons: Good morning, Say hi to your family for me, Welcome to my home, A regular day, At school, On the road again, who's calling, buying and selling, In the restaurant,Oh, doctor!,Computers and the internet,At the post office, At work, Leisure time, Sports and the outdoors.

Outstanding / Uitstekkend!

I have tried out many Dutch kits (as I am speaking here of the 2009 "A Complete Course for Beginners" Coursebook & 6 Audio CDs) and this one really offers something great.
With the 6 CDs (half of them are no-book review, so you get independent practise, with the correct answer spoken after a pause), the narrators seem very "patient", spending a lot of time going over verb forms, adjectives, prepositions, and the dialogues, example sentences in the book, and pronunciation.
There are cultural notes, written exercises, independent study suggestions, and really detailed grammar explanations.
Keep in mind that I am not a true beginner: I got a foundation for repetitive pronunciation and basic phrases from Plimseur, and then went through the Teach-Yourself guides to build on that, and many others. I am thrilled that the Living Language folks can explain things simply and offer so much in one system.
For a one-stop shop, this is a great kit.

Great for learning Dutch

I had borrowed this from the local public library prior to purchasing and found it to be helpful. I pair it with the book, "Say in Right In Dutch" which offers an easy pronounced language system. I am hoping that I will be able to speak Dutch for our next trip to the Netherlands.
