Second Language Cooperative Learning.

This book extends cooperative learning for second language learners. Cooperative learning is very important for second language learners. My complaint is that there is the belief that second language learning is all about teaching grammar skills and vocabulary explicitly. Its known that these skills are better developed when they are context embedded. Then the author mentions something about a "structured" Natural Approach. An oxymoron if I ever heard one! Where's the content?

Good book for cooperative learning.

I like this, I teach ELL and I wanted some new cooperative learning structures I could use. I liked the book, but if you are familiar with Kagan a lot of the structures presented you will already know. I was hoping for some new ideas. It is a good book though and it is well laid out.

Kind of thin

There are some good activities in the book, but it certainly doesn't live up to the glowing "Foreward" that Spencer Kagan wrote for it. Many of the ideas are found in other teacher resource books, so they are hardly unique to Kagan. Note that the book is only 134 pages, and many of those pages are black line masters of things like articles of clothing, which are readily available elsewhere. I purchased a used copy, but I don't think it's worth the 29.00 price for a new copy.
